Caring for You
It is important to take care of yourself so you can take care of your child while you are in the ED.

Food & Water
Please ask your nurse before offering anything to your child to eat or drink. Some treatments require no eating or drinking.
Vending machines are located in the alcove near the entrance to the waiting room. Small snacks and drinks can be found here.
You can always ask a health care aide or nurse for water, when they are available.

Comfort Items
No one plans for a trip to the emergency. The Stollery Women's Network has you covered. Need a clean t-shirt? Blanket? Phone or iPad charger? Colouring book?
Ask a member of your care team and we will do our best to help.
Taking care of you
Being in the ED with your child can be frightening and difficult.
It is ok to ask questions. We encourage you to write things down, even as a note in your phone. You can ask for our name, our role, our plan. It is ok to ask for more clarification.
It is ok to ask for help - for instance, if you need to go to the bathroom or to step away. We will do what we can to help.
Your child will learn from you about how to react to their illness or injury. Finding ways to stay calm will help your child. We are here to help.

Parking
AHS has a parking app that allows users to pay for parking from their mobile device rather than at pay stations. This way you do not have to leave the ED to top up the meter.
